A Snow Day in Alabama

Having spent the first 12 years of my life in Utah and then once again returning there for 3 years of college, I have realized that I am a Southern girl. Nothing against Utah, I actually like it there, except for the long cold winters. I am not a fan of SNOW, the cold, ice, or anything that comes close to it. My kids on the other hand have spent most of their childhood's in the South and therefore have seen very little snow in their lifetime. So about a month ago when the forecast called for snow, schools closed and my kids anxiously awaited the white stuff. Every couple of minutes they would look out the window hoping to see something white....the entire day passed by and the only thing they saw were a few tiny flurries that didn't stick. They were VERY disappointed. In fact, when I told them that Grandma "G" got their snow the next day, they were ready to pack up the van and head to Georgia to see the snow. We didn't go.

So last Friday there was another forecast of snow. This time school was not cancelled so we figured that this time we might actually get some of the white stuff. Sure enough that afternoon it snowed and it stuck. My kids had a great afternoon playing outside in the snow. They threw snowballs, made snow angels, and even found enough snow to make a snow man! I wasn't around to enjoy the fun with them as I flew out Friday morning to San Antonio to attend my cousin Olivia's wedding. And as much as I missed watching my kids, I really didn't feel bad about missing the snow.
Adison and I had a great time at the wedding. The San Antonio Temple is absolutely beautiful. Not only did I get a chance to attend their sealing, but I was also able to attend a session with my mom and her sisters. It was great to see Grant, Alyssa and Olivia and to enjoy their cute house and be entertained by them. I also was able to see and spend some time with my Grandma and Grandpa Rogers who were able to fly in from Albuquerque. Olivia and her husband Zach were so cute and so happy.

I sure missed my kiddos and husband while I was gone. They all picked me up from the airport on Sunday night. I think I was only in the car for about 30 seconds before Trey let me know that there was a surprise waiting for me at home...my kids love surprises. I returned home to the dining room set and ready for a Valentine's Day feast prepared by my sweet husband. It was a great way to return home and a great gift! The kids and Jeff also made a heart-shaped cake...so cute!

I wish I could have come to the wedding, too. Sounds like quite the gathering. I'm surprised about your snow attitude- I was under the opinion that you weren't wimpy about anything!
