Harry Potter, then Update!

Sorry, there will be no update today. I am just about finished with the new Harry Potter and cannot put the book down. I will fill you in on the trip and our weekend, including pictures, in the next day or two.

Ambulance Rides and more!

So as I mentioned before Jeff is off to New York for the week. Of course, just about everytime he leaves town either one of the kids get sick or something else crazy happens. Well, it happened. On Tuesday we met one of our new friends at her private pool. It had a high dive, low dive and slide. The girls were very excited about the diving boards and slide, as we do not have those things at our pool here at home. Well we got to the pool and my friend said that kids under 8 were not allowed on the high dive. Well, Bayley was crushed. She had talked about the high dive all week long. After watching several kids about her size and not as good of swimmer as she was, I finally told her it would be all right for her to try to high dive out. I doubt anyone would have said a thing had there not been an accident! Well, I watched Bayley start climbing the stairs up the high dive, then turned my head to check on one of the kids when I heard a loud crash and scream. Bayley had fallen off of the stairs! I ran over and asked about her head and immediately she said her back hurt. By that time the lifegaurds arrived and after conversing with Bayley we realized that she just peeked her head over the top of the board when she fell, which means she fell at least 8 feet. Well, the lifegaurds said that they had to call 911 because the of the heigth of the fall and that we were not to move her at all. Bayley calmed down rather quickly but continued to say that her back hurt. The paramedics came and said that they had to to take her to the hospital because of the heigth of the fall and because of possibility of a back injury. So Bayley was immobilized on a backboard and with a neck brace and taken the hospital in ambulance. Trey and I followed in the car...for those of you wondering, I was completely calm through the entire thing. I KNEW she was going to be all right, despite the definite scare. At the hospital after being seen by the doctor he ordered back x-rays and a catscan. Well, that is when things slowed down. It took them almost 1 1/2 hours before they got her x-rayed and about another 1 1/2 hours before they got the catscan done. In all Bayley was in on the backboard completely immobilized for almost 4 hours...I will be complaining to the hospital. Towards the end Bayley said her back felt fine and she only wanted off the backboard. Another doctor came in and let her get up...at which point she began dancing! I told her maybe she should chill just a little bit given the fact she arrived in an ambulance. We are so blessed that everything was fine. We learned some very important lessons through the whole thing...the importance of rules, always pack a couple of extra diapers, a bottle, and a pacifier...even for those short trips (Trey survived the emergency room experience, but just barely) and that Heavenly Father really does answer prayers. Other than that we have had a pretty calm week. We are ready to get Jeff home...we are picking him up at the airport this afternoon then we are off the Grandma and Grandpa G's. Then we have Stone Mountain tomorrow and then Jeff and I leave Sunday for St. Thomas. I will post pictures and updates when we get back.

White Water Adventures & More!

We ended up having a great week! It was so nice to have Trey healthy again. He is happy and active! We love it...well, most of the time. We concluded our week with a fun trip to White Water Park with Spencer, Leigh and Austin. Grant's wife, Alyssa, was kind enough to watch Trey for the day so that I could enjoy the park with the girls. Jeff had to work and missed out on the fun completely. However, the girls and I had a blast. Bayley started out her day going on the 2 most scary rides, the Cliffhanger and the Tornado. She is one brave little 5 year old. I have to say there are benefits to being tall...she reached the heigth limits for all the rides. As much fun as she had on all of the rides, I think she enjoyed the wave pool the most. In fact, on the ride home she asked if we could go to the wave pool everyday...too bad we don't live closer. Bayley also had the chance to participate in a small competition while we were there. She was one of 4 kids picked to ride mini-wave runners around the wave pool for prizes. She missed winning an all-day boat rental by about 1 inch...the girl on the inside lane beat pushed her out of first place. Oh well, she loved it! Kendal also love the park. She spent the majority of her time in the toddler area and was fearless on the slides. I think she would go back again in a heartbeat. Yesterday we had another fun day at the pool. We had a couple of friends over yesterday evening, so after all of the excitement this weekend the girls are beat! We love it though. Oh yeah, I don't know if you can tell from the picture but Kendal got hit by a golf club smack dab in the middle of the forehead yesterday. Bayley was practicing her golf a little to close to a oblivious 3 year old. Fortunately it's just a nasty bump and not stitches or a concussion.

Jeff is headed to New York this week for another phase of training with Pfizer. We are going to meet him in Atlanta on Friday and spend the weekend there. Next Saturday we are headed to Stone Mountain for the day as part of Pfizer's regional get together. It should be a lot of fun. Then next Sunday, Jeff and I leave for St. Thomas. We are so excited! We have tons planned for the 4 days that we will be on the island. The kids will be staying at Grandma and Grandpa Griffeth's where they will have Alyssa and Grant's help in keeping the kids. I'm sure the kids are ready, I just hope I am ready to be away from them that long. Four days will be the longest period of time that I have been away from my kids since I had Bayley. Hopefully this break will be good for all of us...I'll let you know! Have a great week!

Kid Update!

I thought I would devote this blog to what is going on in the lives of each of my children.

Bayley: Bayley is loving her summer. School is going to start before either of us is ready. She1starts back August 9th. We have tried to be diligent in devoting a little bit of time each day to2ducational type activites, whether that be a math worksheet, reading worksheet, or just r3eading a book together. I think we have done pretty well and that she will be ready to go w4hen first grade begins. Fortunately for her, even after school starts we will be able to swim just about everyday. She won't miss out on much. On Monday she took a nasty spill on her bike and scraped up both of her knees. For a a child with just about no fear, she has been very fortunate. She has probably had to wear a bandaid, legitimately, about 3 times in her whole life. She is looking forward to a trip to White Water Park this Friday with her Uncle Spencer and Aunt Leigh. One of many fun day trip she has been able to take this summer. Her tooth continues to come in behind her other teeth. She still hasn't lost the tooth and it really isn't that loose. Teeth definitely have a mind of their own. Spencer and Leigh have told us that we had better start a savings account just for teeth because we are going to be investing a lot of money in orthodontic work.

Kendal: Kendal is enjoying having her big sister Bayley around this summer...well, most of the time she does. There are some mornings when she wakes up and ask is Bayley going to school today. They fight here are there, but they get along pretty well so far. In fact, they have a secret club that they have created with 9 secret handshakes. It is so cute to see them playing together. I am so glad that they each have a sister...something I never got to have. She has surprised us the most this summer with her love of swimming. For a girl that wouldn't even put her foot in the water when we first opened the pool, she is now a very good swimmer for a three year old. She is a funny girl with a cute personality.

Trey: Trey is feeling much better this week. He ended up having the roseolla virus. It is a terrible virus that usually affects infants and toddlers and the symptoms are a high fever (he got as high as 105 degrees) for three to five days and then after they break their fever they break out in a rash. Both of the girls have had the virus, so I knew what it was after the rash broke out. He also cut two teeth last week. He was a miserable little fellow. We are so glad that he is back this week. He is pulling up on furniture and walking along it. He even will stand independantly for about 10 seconds at a time. It won't be long until he walks....we are in NO Hurry! He is just about completely weened...just in time for his parent's trip to St. Thomas. He is growing up way too fast!

July 4th!

I don't know about the rest of you, but we love holidays! It is so nice to have Jeff home for an extra day or two when a holiday roles around. The girls love it! We had a very nice 4th of July. Grant and Alyssa drove in from Atlanta to spend the holiday with our family. We appreciate their sacrifice to be with us...lets just say they have been on the move as of late and, oh by the way, Alyssa is in her third trimester of pregnancy. The girls were so excited to have them here. Have I mentioned before how much they love visitors? Anyway, after a traditional cookout we went swimming, fishing, swimming again, and then watched fireworks. It was a fun-filled day. We really do appreciate the great country that we live in. I take great pride in our nation and what we stand for.

Trey had a rough day yesterday. He cut his first bottom tooth and started to run a bit of a temperature. In fact, last night it got as high as 104 degrees...when my kids have a temperature they really have a tendency to spike. He still did not feel all that great today, but the medicine helped to keep his temperature in check. Hopefully it is nothing major, but if we have another night like last night we are headed to the doctor in the morning.

Here are a couple of pictures from our time with Grant and Alyssa!

Sunday Pictures

Well it is that day again...time for a couple of cute pictures. We had a nice Sunday. We had a nice relaxing morning, went to church, had the missionaries to dinner, and then it was time for bed. I got a new calling at church today...it is the one I had hoped I would get, fourth Sunday Relief Society teacher. I am so excited. I love Relief Society and am excited to be able to teach. Jeff participated in the baptism and confirmation of a new member at our church this weekend. The missionaries asked her earlier this week who she would like to have baptize her and she picked Jeff out of all of the men at church. It was quite the compliment, considering he had had very little contact with her before. I think she could sense what a great guy that Jeff is just in the couple of times that they met.

We are looking forward to a fun week. Hopefully we will get to see Grant and Alyssa on the 4th of July and do some fun stuff around here. Enjoy the pictures!
